I’m busy gearing up for my first tradeshow, POOL in Las Vegas. We are still awaiting our booth number, but I’ll post it up here just as soon as it’s available. We are sharing a space with some amazing jewelry designers like Prismera and Amy Bengtson, so I’m hoping our wide range of complimentary designs will snare a lot of customers. I decided to participate in the tradeshow circuit because I understand that sometimes it’s difficult for stores to place big orders without having seen and touched your work. Try as we might, the internet just can’t compare with the real thing. I know I can’t throw down any large sum for a product I haven’t actually seen in person, so why don’t I give my stores the same opportunity?
One of our very favorite stores, Velouria, will be opening a new branch in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle this fall. We just love this store and it’s owner, Tes de Luna, so please stop in this fall and take a look at the awesome local design talent she represents.

In case you haven’t heard, Portland is in the midst of a heat wave. As we move into 100 degree+ days, I find myself wondering just how to get all the enameling done for the week. The answer? Sadly, getting up at 6am is the only real way to work without melting in my gets-great-light-but-heats-up-like-an-oven studio space. I’m trying to focus on the bright side of it all–naps in the air conditioning at 1pm. Ahhh!
Several exciting things are on the horizon for Alisha Louise Designs. I’m attending my first trade show, POOL in Las Vegas from August 31st-Sept. 2nd. I won’t actually be there, but will be part of a great group of designers under one 8′x12′ space. I don’t have our booth number yet, but I’ll post it just as soon as I know.
My jewelry will be featured at both locations of Corazon, a great gift & home store in Minneapolis, MN from August through September. Stop in to see both new and best selling older designs from all collections in person.
Summer Show

Oh, 4th of July, why must you come only once a year? I am a fireworks junky and three times a year (the 4th, New Year’s Eve, and my birthday) of bangbangs doesn’t do much to quench the fire within. Sigh.
On a completely different but no less exciting note, I’m having my first trunk show to introduce the new line on August 8th from 6-9pm at Velouria (2205 NW Market Street, Seattle, WA) as part of Ballard Art Walk. The entire new line will be there as well as some greatly discounted items for giving or keeping. I’ll also be taking custom orders and will have a full spectrum of the enamel colors on hand to make it easier (or harder) to choose your favorite.

Dare I say it? I think the Portland summer has begun. Of course, it may just feel like that for me because I’m in front of a hot kiln all day, but I’ll take what I can get in late June.

Trading with amazing artists across the country is one of my favorite things about being a jeweler. Aside from meeting these cool peeps, you get to sport unique and quality goods without breaking the bank. I used to live down the street from a lovely artist in North Carolina who bartered her work for everything from a used BMW to tuition for her child’s schooling. Pretty inspiring.
